Welcome to the Utah Geographic Names Committee

I am a GIS professional and Civil Engineer for the Utah Department of Transportation. I sat on the National Academy of Science and have directed studies for the Transportation Research Board, Washington DC. I was a Steering Committee member from 1998 to 2002 for the Space Policy Institute at George Washington University. I won the ESRI 2001 International Achievments in GIS Award for work in spatial and linear data transformation. I created RoadVeg, a vegetation management GIS based software that is now in use by the State of California, US Dept of Navy, US Army, and other agencies. I was appointed by Governor Huntsman to the Utah Committee on Geographic Names that oversees the naming of geographic place names within the State of Utah. I am a partner in a local GIS business, VillageGIS.com, that provides local Government with the tools that I wrote, for the collection and management of city infrastructure, such as hydrants, pedestrian ramps, sidewalks and lighting, etc.

I also have papers co-published in ITS, GIS, Artifical Intelligence, Advanced Image Processing, Pavement Analysis and others.
